MIAMI VALLEY BASSMASTERS

CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS

ARTICLE I. NAME AND PURPOSE

Section 1:   Name

This club/chapter shall be called MIAMI VALLEY BASSMASTERS OF PIQUA, OHIO.

Section 2:   Purpose

To stimulate public awareness of bass fishing as a major sport; to offer our state conservation department our organized moral and political support and encouragement; to promote full adherence to all conservation codes; to demand adequate water standards and legal enforcement of existing regulatory standards; to detect and report any polluter and call public and political attention to such crimes; to improve our skill as bass anglers through the fellowship of the friendly exchange of expert bass catching techniques and ideas; to promote and encourage youth fishing and a love for this great recreation/sport; and to function as a dynamic and effective link with other clubs/chapters embracing the principles and purpose of B.A.S.S.

ARTICLE II. MEMBERSHIP

Section 1.   Number of Members

There shall be no more than fifty members with a stand-by waiting list.

Section 2.   Requirements for Membership

To become a club/chapter member a person shall:
     A. Voluntarily express a genuine interest in membership.
     B. Be a current member of B.A.S.S.
     C. Be at least eighteen years of age.
     D. Prospective members must come to a meeting to meet the club and submit an
          application. At the part of the meeting when new membership applications are
          discussed and voted on, the prospective member or members will be asked to
          leave. They will be later notified as to the results of the vote. A two-thirds vote for
          approval is required for acceptance.
    E.  The club shall establish a seniority list of non-boaters.
    F.  Those non-boaters who are accepted as a member will be placed on a seniority list 
          based on their date of membership in the club. When fishing space is available
          those at the top of the list will be paired with boaters. Further seniority will be
          determined by draw.
   G.   All new members must fish their first few tournaments as a non-boater. The number
          of tournaments required to be fished as a non-boater shall equal half the total
          number of club tournaments held during the new members first season. This
          requirement does not apply to returning members.

Section 3:   Membership Dues

Membership dues of $15.00 annually shall be paid by each member to the club. Each member shall also pay $15.00 annually to the O.B.F.N. and $20.00 annually to the B.A.S.S. Federation Nation for a total dues fee of $50.00 per year. This total is to be paid no later than November of the previous year.

ARTICLE III. OFFICERS


Section 1: Officers and Their Duties

A. President: Presides over all meetings and directs all official business; appoints and
     directs all committee functions; supervises all club functions.
B. Vice President: Acts as program chairman; assists the president in his duties and
     presides in his absence; appoints and directs the tournament committee.
C. Secretary: Maintains accurate minutes of all meetings; maintains a regular liaison
     between the O.B.F.N. and B.A.S.S. headquarters.
D. Treasurer: Maintains accurate financial records, handles financial transactions, and
     reports at each meeting. Members of this executive committee are authorized to spend
     up to $25.00 each without consent of the membership.

Section 2: Elections

A. Nominations for officers shall be held at the September meeting with the elections to be held at the October meeting. The new officers are to take office in November.

B. Election shall be by secret ballot by members present at the meeting and by proxy vote for those who are absent. A tie shall be broken by a vote of the club members present. All ballots become the property of the club

Section 3: Eligibility to Vote


Each member in good standing is entitled to one vote. Proxy votes are permitted.

Section 4: Term of Office

The term of office shall be for one year, beginning November 1st and ending October 30th.

Section 5: Vacancies

In the event of an office becoming vacant, nominations will be made from the floor and an election will be held to fill the vacancy.

Section 6: Office Eligibility

To be eligible to hold an office, a member must:
A. Have been a member in good standing for one year.
B. Have shown an active interest in all club/chapter functions.

ARTICLE IV. CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT


Section 1.   Amending the By-Laws

A. The by-laws may be amended at any regular meeting by a two-thirds majority of total
     votes counted, providing notice of the proposed amendment has been presented to the
     membership at least one regular meeting prior to the vote.
B. Proxy votes are permitted.

ARTICLE V. MEMBERSHIP REVOCATION


Section 1.   Removal of a Member

A member shall be dropped from the club/chapter membership roster for the following reasons:
          A. Failure to pay dues and/or tournament expenses.
          B. Any action, which would reflect dishonor on this club/chapter.

ARTICLE VI. TOURNAMENTS


Section 1.   Tournaments

A.   Tournament sites and rules will be voted on and approved by the membership.
B.   Any member in good standing is eligible to participate in the O.B.F.N.  Tournament Trail.
